Engine-Morning Maintenance Check Highly recommended daily
(note: Our tires should run at about 110 PSI)

Returning an Engine After an Assignment
Fire Ready
The best practice is to leave the engine Fire Ready
(or  as close as you possibly can, with notes for needs)
Why?
To be ready for the next dispatch whenever that request may come

Who makes this happen?
A good Engine Boss ensures this happens every time.
With a daily routine to clean as you go, this should all be easy
for an engine crew while being demobilized.
Fire Ready means:
The truck is ready to leave for an assignment.Prepared for inspection.
An Engine Inventory sheet is filled out, dated , and signed. Found in every engine.
The vehicle log notes any maintenance performed and current needs
Radio kit is together ,tagged  "All working" or list needs.
Saw kit is together with saw cleaned up after use.
Lookout kit has complete Weather kit and flashlight.

The Engine should be  in as good, or better shape than when it left.
        Hoses rolled up.
Accumulated stuff removed from top racks and interior.
        Washed.
        Live reel neatly rolled.

Engines
New diesel trucks need DEF.Here's why.

Engine pumps need to be greased every 8 hours of pump use. When in doubt give it a shot of grease
(but don't overdo it)

Some newer pumps do not need grease (see bottom pump). On upper pump you see the grease

fitting.
